Telescope

Team members & roles

Invite people to your team by email, pick the role that fits, and understand what owners, admins, members, and viewers can each do.

Bring the rest of your team into Telescope so alerts reach the right people and everyone shares the same monitors and status pages. You invite people by email and choose the role that decides what they can do.

Invite someone

Open your team settings

In the portal, go to your team settings and choose to invite a member. Only an owner or admin can send invites.

Enter their email and pick a role

Enter the person's email address and choose the role they should have — admin, member, or viewer. See Roles below for what each one can do.

They accept and join

Telescope emails them an invitation link. When they open it and sign in (or create an account), they join your team with the role you picked. The link expires after a few days, so invite again if it lapses.

Invites are per team

An invitation adds someone to the team you sent it from — not to every team you belong to. Send a separate invite from each team you want them on.

Roles

Every member has one role per team. Roles range from full control to read-only:

RoleCan do
OwnerFull control, including everything an admin can do — plus deleting the team and transferring ownership. Each team has an owner from the moment it's created.
AdminManage team settings, invite and manage members, and create, edit, and delete monitors, status pages, and API keys.
MemberCreate and edit monitors and integrations, and set up notifications — but can't delete monitors, invite people, or manage API keys.
ViewerRead-only. View monitors, checks, and alerts, but change nothing.

Who can invite

Only owners and admins can invite people or change someone's role. When they invite, they can grant admin, member, or viewer — ownership isn't handed out through an invite.

Programmatic access

To let your own code or scripts act on the team — rather than a person — use an API key instead of a seat. Keys belong to the team and carry only the scopes you grant them.

See API keys to create one.
